What is the Chicco Fit2

The Chicco Fit2 Infant & Toddler Car Seat is the only infant car seat with two unique positions to accommodate infants and toddlers.

It’s designed in Italy, made from premium fabrics that are both comfortable AND fashionable! The removable pad makes getting your kid situated an easy task while you focus on driving.

It can be washed without issue too- bonus points for Clean eating parents out there who want nothing but healthy kids growing up around them (and everyone else).

This one also comes equipped with EPS energy-absorbing foam lining which will help protect against any accidents caused by sudden impacts so your kids stay safe during travel time.

What comes with Chicco Fit2

This seat comes with a one-hand-operated ReclineSure leveling foot and two RideRight bubble level indicators, making it easy to achieve and verify the correct angle.

Plus, the included premium LATCH connectors and SuperCinch tightener make for a secure fit with minimal effort. And for added peace of mind, an integrated stabilizer bar increases surface contact between the base and vehicle seat.

The Force Multiplier LATCH tightener helps achieve secure fits with little effort so you’ll have peace of mind knowing your child stays protected in their own personal space.

With a 2-stage base and stage position lever system to convert in one motion from infant positioning all the way up until they’re ready to sit upright without being held securely by their belt or shoulder strap while sitting back against two layers of safety padding – this product won’t disappoint!

Who is Chicco Fit2 for?

Chicco’s Fit2 car seat is designed with two unique positions to accommodate infants and toddlers, making it easy for parents of young children.

The Stage 1 infant position allows you to keep your child rear-facing up until they reach 2 years old. But if their growing needs require more space or safety assurance, Chicco’s built-in lever will quickly allow them to convert into an upright arrangement that’s perfect for them!

This toddler position offers a more upright position that provides added comfort for your child.

The Fit2 is a convertible car seat designed for children between 4-35 pounds in Stage One, 15-35 pounds in Stage Two, and up to 35 inches tall.

The Fit2 is a car seat that can be used from birth to 12 months and then again for rear-facing seating up until 24 months old!

With 7 positions, 1 removable head support system with harness straps adjustments on every position–you’ll have no trouble finding what’s right for your child.

How To Choose? Chicco Keyfit 2 vs. Air

The Chicco Keyfit2 also has a sibling model namely Keyfit2 Air. The latter mimics Keyfit2 in the majority of aspects but includes one significant additional feature i.e. mesh fabric.

Breathable air mesh fabric is important in the Chicco Fit2 Air car seat because it helps keep your child cool and comfortable while they are seated in the car.

The mesh allows air to circulate freely, which prevents your child from becoming too hot or sweaty. This is important for keeping them comfortable and safe during long car rides.

Overall Rating

  • Overall: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4 out of 5
  • Safety: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 out of 5
  • Durability: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4 out of 5
  • Ease of Use: ⭐⭐⭐ 3 out of 5
  • Market Consensus: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4 out of 5
Our evaluation of this product is based on 4 metrics: 1) Safety, 2) Durability and 3) Ease of use, and 4) Market Consensus. We write about each of these metrics in its own section below.

#1. Safety: How Safe is Chicco Fit2

Total Safety Score = ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐(5 out of 5)

In terms of Safety, we rate the Chicco Fit2 based on the formula below:

Safety Score = Safety Features + Certifications + Recall/Quality Issues

Safety Features ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐(5 out of 5)

  • Premium LATCH connectors.
  • Force-multiplying SuperCinch tightener.
  • Integrated stabilizer bar.
  • 5-Point Harness tightener.
  • Extended click-in carrier functionality.

The Fit2 is a car seat with an extra-tall limit, meaning it can hold infants up to 3 inches taller than average. Keeping your older baby rear-facing longer may increase safety in case there’s another accident and they’re safer for hurtling around inside the vehicle!

The anti-rebound bar also helps decrease forces on little ones during these types of crashes.

The Chicco Fit2 earned a slightly above-average score in the crash test results. The HIC (head sensor) scores are better than most products with three options scoring lower, which could be an indication that this product has been designed to provide more protection for your child’s head during accidents or incidents.

This top-choice product has been reviewed by 78 people who left positive feedback. With 69% of reviewers giving it a 5-star rating and 18 percent leveling out at 4 stars, this can’t be wrong!

It was reported that one mother even saved her 2 months old from a car accident with the seat.

Safety Certifications ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐(5 out of 5)

Car: The Chicco Fit2 is a rear-facing car seat that is able to accommodate children from 5 to 35 pounds. The seat features a no-rethread harness system and adjustable headrest to ensure that the child is always properly secured.

Additionally, the seat has a stay-in-car base that keeps the seat in place even when not in use. The Chicco Fit2 is a safe and convenient car seat that is perfect for parents who are looking for a rear-facing only option.

Flight: Chicco car seats are certified for aircraft use. Chicco is one of the few brands that has received certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for their products. This means that you can rest assured that your Chicco car seat will provide your child with adequate protection during air travel.

Chicco takes safety seriously and includes a number of features that make it one step ahead of other brands. For instance, its FAA-approved design means your little ones can enjoy their trip in style while being protected by top-grade protection tech like EPS energy-absorbing foam all around the shell–and don’t forget those anti-recoil bars either!

Recall/Quality Issues ⭐(# out of 5)

At this time, there are no known recalls for Chicco Fit2 infant car seats.

The only 4-star review on Amazon claims that it cannot be forward-facing once your child grows up, which is pretty evident since it is a rear-facing car seat. Nonetheless, this review is ruled out since it did not contain a quality issue.

Tips: Keep your receipt. You should examine all sections of the seat as soon as you receive it. The sooner you can reach out to customer support, the better, as they might be slow to respond at times. Be ready to take pictures of the product defects if any.

#2. Durability: How Long Can You Use Chicco Fit2?

Durability Score = ⭐⭐⭐⭐(4 out of 5)

In terms of Durability, we rate the Chicco Fit2 with a 5 star based on the formula below:

Durability Score = Range of Use + Expiration + Warranty

Range of Use ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐(5 out of 5)

  • Minimum weight limit recommendation: ‎4 Pounds (1.8kg)
  • Maximum weight limit recommendation: ‎35 Pounds (15.9kg)
  • Maximum height limit recommendation: 35 Inches (88.9cm)
  • Weight range: 4 Pounds(1.81 kg)-35 Pounds(15.87 kg)
Range of use is provided by the manufacturer. The minimum weight recommendation means you should not put your baby in the car seat if they are under the minimum weight limits. Likewise, the maximum weight and height limit also indicates if your kid has outgrown the car seat if you can’t already tell or your kids don’t complain about it.

Expiration ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐(5 out of 5)

The lifetime of a Chicco car seat is 3 years on fabric and 10 years on shell.

Do pay attention to the expiration date as a guideline for your child’s safety. Manufacturers of infant car seats provide this information based on the design and materials they use. Car seats that have passed their expiration dates are more likely to have safety issues due to the average estimated wear and tear.

Warranty ⭐⭐⭐⭐(4 out of 5)

One year from the date of purchase.

#3. Ease of Use: How Will Chicco Fit2 fit into your car?

Ease of Use Score: ⭐⭐⭐(3 out of 5)

In terms of Ease of Use, we rate the Chicco Fit2 with a 5 star based on the formula below:

Ease of use =

Installation + Adjustability + Maintenance + Carry +Stroller Compatibility

Installation ⭐⭐⭐⭐(4 out of 5)

The Chicco Fit2 is an easy and quick to install seat using LATCH. This particular model has anchors with push-button fasteners called SUPERCINCH, which makes tightening them easier than ever before!

The leveling foot also helps you find just the right angle every time so installation will go off without a hitch for any parent who needs their youngest child’s booster chair set in style today.

The Chicco also has a bubble level in addition to their patented RECLINESURE helping parents find just the right angle every time so installation never feels too complicated or frustrating.

Chicco’s Fit2 car seat is also easy to install using the seat belt installation, though not as straightforward or simple compared with other methods. The color coded path makes installation easier than ever before- once you find your way around that pesky lock off!

But if given a choice we still recommend LATCH because there may be fewer errors when installing this type of equipment in cars where both belts must work properly for safety reasons.

Adjustability ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐(5 out of 5)

Chicco Fit2 offers a fantastic array of adjustments that are easy to make. The first is the removable infant insert which helps support newborns’ heads and necks in their first few months, while one-handed carry handle adjustment allows more space for toddlers when they grow outboard harnesses (no rethread).

Seven different positions provide you with choices depending on what type or stage your child may be at! The Chicco Fit2 infant car seat is uniquely designed to meet the needs of parents on-the go.

On top of everything, you can combine this versatile product with their Strollers for a complete travel system that won’t weigh down your vehicle or take up too much space in your home!

Carry-Around ⭐⭐(2 out of 5)

The Fit2 is one of the heavier options in our list with a seat weight that reaches 12 pounds. This makes it not ideal for parents who may need to carry their car seat regularly or those planning on attaching it onto another stroller often, but if you won’t be doing either then this shouldn’t matter too much!

Stroller Compatibility ⭐⭐⭐⭐(4 out of 5)

Fit2 works with any Chicco stroller that can accommodate a car seat. Fit2 is now compatible with the following Chicco strollers:

Together, Corso, Bravo, Viaro, Activ3, Tre, BravoFor2 & Cortina

It’s possible to utilize Fit2 on strollers built by other manufacturers by using the adapters they sell for the KeyFit, but I haven’t had the opportunity to test this out yet. It will ultimately be up to the other stroller companies to decide if Fit2 will operate with their existing KeyFit adapters.

Market Consensus =
Customer Feedback (Quantative) + Expert Reviews (Qualitative)

Customer Reviews ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4 out of 5)

Note that for highly-rated products, we will avoid bombarding you with more praises about the product. We intentionally look for substantiated negative reviews or criticisms that add to our knowledge.  So, if you’re going to jump right into this section, know it has its own merits we’ve discussed before.

Selected Critical Customer Reviews

⭐I looked at the Fit2 and ultimately went with the Keyfit 30 because I didn’t think the Fit2 offered enough advantages. By the time you’re using the Fit2’s extra capacity, I couldn’t imagine wanting to carry the kid in the seat, so at that point it basically becomes a rear-facing car seat and I figured then we would move to the convertible-Reddit Review.

⭐⭐Great car seat for function, looks, etc. but the stitching of seams, especially the sun shade seem to be of very low quality. We’ve been using the car seat for our newborn for only a month and typical use has caused the main seam of the sun shade to give out. It’ll definitely spread and eventually render the sun shade useless before our boy grows into a toddler-Amazon Review.

⭐⭐⭐I’m disappointed in how well the fabric held up. It is covered in snags and pilling! Used a razor to remove them and it left a weird shading. The warning labels have been half way washed off after only 2 total washes ever. Also it is a lot heavier to carry around than the keyfit we used with my older kids-Amazon Review.

Expert Reviews ⭐⭐⭐⭐(4 out of 5)

⭐⭐⭐We like this car seat and feel it is one we would recommend to a friend. However, the additional features add weight to the carrier pushing it over 12 lbs, making it a poor choice for parents that plan to carry it. Also, the higher price tag and limited stroller compatibility mean some parents might be better off with other options-BabyGearLab.

⭐⭐Well, in our testing we found that it was heavier than even the B-Safe, making it either an inconvenience or an excellent workout! Second, upper shoulder and head space are a bit narrow, though removing the upper infant insert helped that situation. It’s worth mentioning that it’s not as narrow in the shoulders and hips as the B-Safe 35 -Don’t Waste Your Money.

Conclusion

The Chicco Fit2  is one of the best infant car seats in the market today. It shall indeed be a unique addition to your baby registry that would come without any major shortcomings. While the weight of this car seat makes it a no-go for some parents, others greatly appreciate its splendid security features and effortless installation.
