But we spotted 4 complaints on the NHTSA database, three complaints were about several cracks in the head foam of the headrest while the last complaint was about the harness adjuster not being strong enough.
Tips: Keep your receipt. You should examine all sections of the seat as soon as you receive it. The sooner you can reach out to customer support, the better, as they might be slow to respond at times. Be ready to take pictures of the product defects if any. |
#2. Durability: How Long Can You Use Chicco MyFit Booster Car Seat?
Total Durability Score = ⭐⭐⭐⭐(4.5 out of 5)
In terms of Ease of Use, we rate the Chicco MyFit based on the formula below:
Durability Score = Range of Use + Expiration + Warranty
Range of Use ⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Minimum weight limit recommendation is 22 pounds (11.3 kg) which should be equivalent to a 1-year-old child.
We recommend that children be at least 2 years of age before using a forward-facing child restraint.
- The maximum weight limit recommendation is 100 pounds (45 kg) suitable for children between 8 – 10 years of age.
- The minimum height limit recommendation is 38 Inches (96.52 cm).
- The maximum height limit recommendation is 57 Inches (144.78 cm)
- Weight range: 25 Pounds (10 kg) – 100 Pounds (45 kg)
- Target gender – Unisex
For the best use of the car seat, the manufacturer recommends the Range of Use. Exceeding those limits might be okay if you had to. In the end, though, it is about risk, safety, and your child’s comfort. If your baby weighs less than the minimum weight and height limit, you should not put them in the car seat. Additionally, the maximum weight and height limit also tells you if your child has outgrown the car seat, if you can’t already tell or if they aren’t complaining about it. |
Expiration ⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Chicco MyFit car seat expires 8 years from the manufacture date and Chicco emphasizes that do not use this child Restraint if it is more than 8 years old.
8 years is a pretty good year for a booster car seat, hence the 4-star.
Keep an eye on the expiration date as a safety precaution for your youngster. This information is provided by baby car seat manufacturers depending on the design and materials they employ. Due to the typical predicted wear and tear, car seats that have beyond their expiration dates are more likely to have safety hazards. |

Several users found it very easy to install this car seat, however, we recommend that you check your vehicle’s owner’s manual for available seating positions because some vehicles have specific requirements for where the car seat can be installed.
Installation can be done using:
- Latch system
- Lap-shoulder belt
- Lap belt only
We will be giving an overview of the latch installation system for harness mode based on the Chicco MyFit car seat manual. Do not install this method for a child weighing more than 40 lb (18 kg).
Also, when installing LATCH in vehicles equipped with inflatable seat belts, the unused seat belt should NOT be buckled behind the Child Restraint System as this will engage the inflatable portion of the belt.

Installing Harness Mode Using The Latch Installation System
- Place the booster car seat on the vehicle seat ensuring that it is leveled, then, pull forward on the car seat bottom pad and lift up on the backrest seat pad to locate the LATCH storage compartment.
- Open the compartment door and remove the LATCH straps.
- Thread the LATCH connectors behind the seat fabric and out the side openings on the seat back and loosen both LATCH Adjuster straps to their full length.
- See that the LATCH straps lay flat against the seat back while ensuring that they are not twisted.
- Locate the LATCH anchor bars in your vehicle. Attach both LATCH Connectors to the vehicle LATCH anchor bars.
- While pushing down on the Child Restraint, pull on the LATCH Adjuster strap to tighten.
- Locate Tether Anchor in your vehicle. Attach Tether Hook and pull the Tether Adjuster strap to tighten. Then test for tightness by grabbing the sides of the seat where the lower anchor strap is and sliding the car seat side-to-side and front-to-back. If the seat moves less than 1” (2.5 cm), it is tight enough.
