This car seat looks very high-end, hence its expensive price; so it is not for you if you are on a tight budget. Additionally, if you are an urban parent who frequently hops into and out of taxis, and you seek a seat that is not heavy and bulky, this is not the right seat for you. The Britax Allegiance convertible car seat will be a better option in both cases.
Tip: Contrary to infant car seats, convertible car seats can be installed rear-facing, then turned around to face the front after a certain age. Each state has its own laws regarding when a seat can be turned around, as well as restrictions on height, age, and weight. For the rear-facing mode, your baby will be rear-facing and on the back seat, you might consider placing a little car seat mirror to keep an eye on your child while driving. |

Total Safety Score = ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐(4.8 out of 5)
Our safety ratings for the Primo Viaggio Kinetic Convertible Car Seat are based on the formula below:
Safety Score = Safety Features + Certifications + Recall/Quality Issues
Safety Features ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We gave this seat a 5-star because of its advanced safety features.
- Adjustable Side Impact Protection (SIP) for protection.
- Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) and Expanded Polypropylene (EPP) energy-absorbing foam for increased protection and comfort.
- Kinetic pods that help move forces away from your child in case of a side collision.

We noticed a report that the no-rethread harness strap looked frayed and that it got worse as time passed, so we investigated further and found that this happened after abandoning the car seat for a long period.
What is a premium car seat without excellent features? The Peg Perego Viaggio Primo Convertible Car Seat has earned a top mark for safety features that will give you peace of mind.
Safety Certifications ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Car: This child restraint meets or exceeds all applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 213 requirements for use in motor vehicles and aircraft.
Flight: This child restraint is certified for use in an aircraft. Most airlines should allow the use of a restraint that is labeled for use according to FAA regulations. However, due to the size and weight of the Primo Viaggio Convertible Kinetic, it is recommended that the airline is contacted for further information prior to booking or flight.
Note: The FAA recommends that a child weighing up to 40 lbs (18 kg) use a certified, harnessed child seat while traveling on an aircraft. |
Recall/Quality Issues ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
At this time, there are no known recalls for Peg Perego Primo Viaggio Kinetics convertible car seat. However, according to the NHTSA database, there were 2 recalls in 2001 and 2002 for an older version, Peg Perego Primo Viaggio due to crash-related issues.
We didn’t spot any quality-related complaints. The seat is designed in such a way that there are areas on the seat that will indicate whether the seat has been damaged. Check the manual for more.
Tips: Keep your receipt. You should examine all sections of the seat as soon as you receive it. The sooner you can reach out to customer support, the better, as they might be slow to respond at times. Be ready to take pictures of the product defects if any. |
#2. Durability: How Long Can You Use Peg Perego Primo Viaggio Kinetic Convertible Car Seat?
Total Durability Score = ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐(4.6 out of 5)
In terms of Ease of Use, we rate the Britax Allegiance based on the formula below:
Durability Score = Range of Use + Expiration + Warranty
Range of Use ⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Minimum weight limit recommendation is 5 pounds (2.3kg) which should be equivalent to a 2-month old baby.
- The maximum weight limit recommendation is 65 pounds (29.5kg) suitable for children between 5 and 7 years of age. Pretty good range.
- Rear-facing position weight range is 5 pounds (2.3kg) – 45 pounds (20.4kg)
- Forward-facing position weight range is 22 pounds (10 kg) – 65 pounds (29.5kg)
- Weight range: 5 Pounds (2.3kg) – 65 Pounds (29.5kg)
- Number of reclining positions: 10
- Harness type: 5-point
For the best use of the car seat, the manufacturer recommends the Range of Use. Exceeding those limits might be okay if you had to. In the end, though, it is about risk, safety, and your child’s comfort. If your baby weighs less than the minimum weight and height limit, you should not put them in the car seat. Additionally, the maximum weight and height limit also tells you if your child has outgrown the car seat, if you can’t already tell or if they aren’t complaining about it. |
Expiration ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Primo Viaggio Kinetic Convertible Car Seat expires 10 years from the manufacture date. 10 years is a pretty long duration, hence the 5-star.
Most car seats have their product life due to the constant wear and tear and hot/cold temperature change with different places you go.
Keep an eye on the expiration date as a safety precaution for your youngster. This information is provided by baby car seat manufacturers depending on the design and materials they employ. Due to the typical predicted wear and tear, car seats that have beyond their expiration dates are more likely to have safety hazards. |
Warranty ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
2-year warranty from the date of original retail purchase.
This is more than the typical one year.

Total Ease of Use Score: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐(4.5 out of 5)

⭐⭐⭐ “This product is good I only used peg-Perego since my second child the only thing is that specific car seat makes my baby’s head to uncomfortable and chair is not reclined enough he crys a lot and is all because he’s sitting posture is not good and also seat belt lock touches him puting pressure on hes 2 legs.”- Amazon review
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “I knew of Peg Perego because of her fancy strollers but had no idea the company made car seats too, and this is the same level of luxury and function that you get from this amazing baby brand. The seat is impeccably crafted and its safety features rival that of a damn space shuttle. Every shock, rattle, and roll is protected through remarkable design and you will never feel more confident than when you place your baby in this seat and get on the road. It is definitely the most expensive one I’ve seen, but is there any expense that should be spared when it comes to protecting a life? Here luxury meets necessity and will last for several stages of your child’s growth and couldn’t be a better investment!”- Amazon review
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “This Primo Viaggio convertible car seat in licorice is made in Italy. It is so easy to use. I am glad that it holds up to 45 pounds, so it will also convert to a front-facing seat.
